Weak market consumption and poor demand, with sluggish spot cargo transactions [spot copper in North China by SMM]

Today, spot #1 copper cathode in North China traded at a discount of 260 yuan/mt to 180 yuan/mt against the front-month contract, with an average discount of 220 yuan/mt, unchanged from the previous trading day. The transaction prices ranged from 78,030 yuan/mt to 78,180 yuan/mt, with an average price of 78,105 yuan/mt, down 30 yuan/mt from the previous trading day.

Today, in North China, spot premiums/discounts for #1 copper cathode against the front-month contract ranged from a discount of 260 yuan/mt to a discount of 180 yuan/mt, with an average discount of 220 yuan/mt, unchanged from the previous trading day. The transaction prices ranged from 78,030 yuan/mt to 78,180 yuan/mt, with an average price of 78,105 yuan/mt, down 30 yuan/mt from the previous trading day. Post-holiday consumption has been generally weak, with poor demand leading to a rapid decline in spot premiums/discounts. Northern supplies are becoming increasingly difficult to absorb, resulting in a sluggish market with poor transaction activity.
